The idea for ddserver emerged from the necessity to get a replacement for the many existing dynamic DNS providers, that all have one or another restriction. As many members from our hackerspace (Magrathea Laboratories) started looking for such an alternative, we started development on ddserver.

Once, planned as a tiny weekend-project only for our hackerspace, we continued development, as we realized that the tool might also be interesting for many other people and hackerspaces.
